Track Inspirations

If I had to pick a favorite out of all the songs I have ever recorded I would say it is ‘Oh What a Night (December 1963)’. The song was originally recorded by Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons in 1975 and yet it still sounds fresh today. I always loved this song as a young kid so I decided to record it. I had a blast playing this song!

‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ was recorded on February 12, 2012, one day after the passing of Whitney Houston. Of all the songs she recorded this was by and far my personal favorite. When I heard the news of her passing I simply picked up my acoustic guitar, plugged into the computer, closed my eyes, and started playing. This is my heartfelt tribute to Whitney.

I got the idea to do ‘Sara’s Smile’ while in church. I attend a small Baptist church where we clap our hands while the organist plays because we don’t have a drummer. In one of the songs the organist played a riff that reminded me of Sara’s Smile, and throughout the rest of the service it stuck in my head. Sara’s Smile has are no drums. I used finger snaps and hand claps to recreate the “Taking it to Church” sound. Enjoy!
