Track Inspirations

‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’  was made after a friend asked “why does most Christmas music sound like funeral marches?” This led me to search for up-tempo holiday music. What I found was most artists simply took a holiday song and put a hip-hop loop to it. I wanted to do something different, something that no one had done before. I stripped this song down and completely rebuilt it around the melody. The result is an exciting and rhythmic track with a sprinkling of jazz and a dash of funk. Enjoy!

What can I say, ‘The Little Drummer Boy (Me and My Guitar)’ conjures up one word; Smooth! It has a smooth sound, a smooth feel, and is topped off by smooth scat vocals.  This is my favorite track on ‘Holiday Classics’ and I hope it becomes yours too. Enjoy!

I chose to record ‘What Child Is This’ because the melody reminded me of the old Soul and R&B ballads from the 70’s my mother used to listen to when I was young. It has a pure and simple melody that is full of passion. Enjoy!

Just when you think you’ve heard it all, here is ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ done in the style of 50’s Doo Wop. Believe me, I’m just as surprised as you are that this worked! Enjoy!
